- Depression can develop from internal, or biological, factors (which are associated with biochemical changes in the body and brain)

- May have a distorted preception of self, and imagining that other people are thinking about them constantly
- Constantly criticising self and others
- Loss of enjoyment of previously fun activities, for example, the loss of interest in socializing with family and friends
- Wanting to become a prominant figure like a prime minister or a famous person and believing that it is easliy achieved
